The world production of olive oil
will reach 3,222,090 tonnes in the 2019/20 season, which means 2% more than the
previous campaign, according to the capacity carried out by the Department of
Olive Studies of the Centre of Excellence of Olive Oil of GEA, directed by
Rafael Cárdenas and Aymen Bejaoui.
This capacity
details that Spain will produce up to 1,250,000 tonnes, which represents 38.8%
of the world production.
Tunisia will
be the second producing country reaching
390,000 tonnes of olive oil (three times less than the Spanish one).
On the other
hand, Greece and Italy will share the third and fouth position reaching 320,000
tonnes of olive oil every country.
In fifth
position is Turkey, which maintains a production similar to the previous year,
with 200,000 tonnes of olive oil (6% of world production), followed by Morocco,
whose estimated production is at 160,000 tonnes (5% of world production).
The seventh
producer, as the last season, will be Portugal, which reaches 140,000
tonnes and closing the group of the
eight largest producers is Syria again, which reaches 120,000 tonnes.
According to
this capacity, these eight largest producers will contribute 87.3% of the world
olive oil production next campaign.
As Spanish
production is larger than the sum of Tunisian, Greek, Italian and Turkish ones,
if you are looking for good prices and price stability, then our country is the
right partner. Apart from this, taking into consideration the great quality of
our oils, let´s begin to collaborate?? We encourage you to start with Spanish
olive oil, the golden liquid appreciated all over the world.
