  • OLYMPIC GAMES & SPANISH SPORTS

The Olympic games are the most important sports events in which thousands of athletes from around the world participate in a variety of competitions during 16 days.

People around the world wait in front of the TV to watch and support the athletes of their countries. It is the Olympic Spirit, the most important thing is not to win but to take part and to fight well.

But did you know that Olympic games also have some connection with Olive Oil too? In Greek mythology, the Olive tree was a symbol of peace.

The olive branch was also a sacred prize in Greece and it represented honor. An olive branch was used to award to champion athletes in the ancient Olympic games, that´s why every champion wore a crown of olives in the 2004 Athens Olympics Games too.

Regarding our athletes, Spain is a land of passion and our internationally recognized elite athletes are proof of this. We will participate in Tokyo 2021 with more than 300 Spanish athletes but we will miss some others as Rafa Nadal or Carolina Marin. Do you know them?

Rafa Nadal is one of the best tennis players who has been ranked No.1 in the world and he has won Roland Garros 13 times!

Carolina Marín is a two-time defending world badminton champion she won the gold medal in women's singles at the Rio Olympics winning. She is the first woman outside of Asia to win the Olympic singles title.

Basket, Handball, Cycling, football, Golf, Swimming, Triathlon or Waterpolo are some sports where we hope to get some other medals. Will you support our Spanish athletes too?
